The Life in Focus Education (L.I.F.E.) program has been operating for over 30 years across the United States, and has been transforming lives since its inception through dedicated service. L.I.F.E. has now begun operating right here in Santa Barbara. The program provides a comprehensive look into the arenas of gangs and substance abuse, helping educate students about their effects. Other topics of discussion include the legal, social, and physical consequences of gang life, as well as the history of substance abuse. These events and classes are designed not only to educate the at-risk students about their particular drug of choice and lifestyle, but also to encourage them to engage in self-evaluation, which allows them to see how their addiction and choices affects themselves and those around them.
To provide a well-rounded evidence base program, L.I.F.E. offers other closely-related courses that look into the areas of Youth Behavior Modification and Victim Awareness. These courses instruct the students on how to deal with the issues that can arise as a result of their lifestyle choices, as well teaching them how to maturely eliminate the problems that might have been a result of their substance abuse, eventually regaining control over their lives. The L.I.F.E. program provides these opportunities.
